In light of recent criminal events on Mud Island, there are some people looking for extra steps they can take to secure their homes and provide themselves a little more peace of mind. The HOA plays a role in community safety by providing a forum for communication and maintaining critical infrastructure; however, each resident must also take precautions on an individual basis and play an active role in preventing crime. Homeowners Association Actions:
Additionally, there are steps each one of us should take to create a more secure neighborhood:
If you have other suggestions for keeping our neighborhood peaceful and safe, please share them. You can comment on this post, comment on Facebook, or comment on Nextdoor. Constructive dialogue is always welcome. Please stay safe, keep an eye out for strange behavior, get to know some neighbors, and have a fantastic holiday season! Personal Home Security Products (A few I know about and a few suggestions from neighbors - I have no personal stake in any of these companies. I personally use Ring, Arlo Pro, and Nest products.) For a comparison of several currently available home camera products, please click the chart below**: **Since I am not the author of the content on the aforementioned site, I cannot make any guarantees about it's content; however, as of November 21, 2017 the content does appear to be complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I am providing it here as a starting point for anyone interested in doing their own research on these products. The chart provided does a good job summarizing and comparing the most important features of each camera. Please research any product before purchasing. PROMOTIONS:
I have reached out to a few of these companies for discounts for our HOA, but have not yet received anything substantial. I do have a promotion code for Ring products, but I am not sure when it expires. With Black Friday approaching, there are likely going to be discounts on many of these products, so be on the lookout. If I learn of new discounts, I'll share them here. Also, if anyone submits a discount code or offer, I'll post that here as well (email them to president@riverpointmemphis.org).

Riverpoint Residents: Our annual meeting will be held on November 20 @ 6 pm at the River Hall in front of Paulette's and Tug's. The address is 726 Island Dr. It is the small, stand-alone building between Island Drive and the semi-circle drive. We hope to see all homeowners there!
Riverpoint HOA Residents: If you received a letter from MLGW about backflow testing for the irrigation system, please know that backflow testing for HOA irrigation is done by our landscape company (LSG) and a certificate has been sent to MLGW letting them know. If you have your own irrigation system, that would not be included in the HOA system tests (this shouldn't apply to anyone in Riverpoint unless a homeowner has installed their own irrigation devices). I have spoken to MLGW about this matter and they should be aware that Riverpoint HOA is covered; however, if you wish, you are welcome to call the number on the letter and let them know that the HOA irrigation system has been tested and the certification should be on file. If you have any specific questions, reach out to our HOA manager, Ron Smith. Thanks!
