Crime Prevention
The Riverpoint HOA Neighborhood Watch and crime prevention strategy is simple:
- “Lights on from dusk to dawn!” This is probably the single most effective means of preventing crime. Make sure the light above your garage door is working and turned on from dusk to dawn (put it on a timer or install a light sensor to automate). Also, make sure your lamppost (if you have one) is working.
- Park in your garage at all times. The most common crimes on Mud Island are car break-ins. It is much harder to break into a car when it is out of sight. Be sure to keep garage doors closed.
- For all suspicious activity:
- Call the MPD non-emergency line at 901-545-2677 (901-545-COPS) to report any suspicious activity (In case of emergency, dial 911). Report anything that seems suspicious – unrecognized vehicles, people driving up and down alleys, loitering, etc.
- Share information with neighbors:
- Post to the HOA Website
- Facebook (facebook.com/riverpointhoa)
- Twitter (@riverpointhoa)
- Nextdoor (nextdoor.com)
- Let your neighbors know when you see them around!
